Beauty

Orlando Pita on Alberta Ferretti “The hair at Alberta Ferretti was inspired by the clothes—there are a lot of rough edges, the hems aren’t finished—so there’s a lot of texture. It’s not a French twist, it’s not a bun, it’s kind of a beautiful mess.” Photo: Don Ashby

Charlotte Tilbury on Alessandro Dell’Acqua “It’s basically Marilyn Monroe meets Juliette Lewis—wonderful rock 'n' roll makeup. The eye is lined in black with a little bit of eye gloss sort of seeping in. You know at 2 o’clock in the morning you can just look absolutely fabulous; there’s something very sensual and sexy about that rock 'n' roll look.”
Luigi Murenu on Alessandro Dell’Acqua “We thought about how to create a new Marilyn Monroe. So the hair has a little bit of tousled movement. It’s almost bed-head, but glam.” Photo: Greg Kessler

James Kaliardos on Chanel “Spring is a white matte eyelid, a matte face, but not a lot of foundation. There’s an extended eyebrow, and a soft lip. It’s Hollywood Technicolor meets cyber meets Betty Davis meets Coco Chanel.” Photo: Style.com

Charlotte Tilbury on Chloé “The makeup is a little bit boyish and natural. Just a tiny bit of cover-up where they need it and a bit of moisturizer—the lights are really beautiful out there. There’s a tiny bit of black eyeliner in the lashes that’s partly taken off with a cotton ball and a bit of black mascara. What can I tell you, they look gorgeous, they don’t need my help!” Photo: Don Ashby

Stéphane Marais on Emilio Pucci “The makeup is glowing and very rich. Lacroix was talking about Jackie Onassis on Skorpios, but I’m thinking about Romy Schneider in La Piscine. It’s about luminescence, that’s all. The lids, the eyes, the skin is shimmering.” Photo: Greg Kessler

Aldo Coppola on Giorgio Armani "This season Mr. Armani wanted very graphic and very shiny hair. At the same time, we’re doing small waves. It’s a bit inspired by the artist Tamara Lempika, who’s very feminine, yet very modern."
Peter Philips on Giorgio Armani “For spring, we’ve done a very peachy-beige, pastel look, contrasted with really dark eyes.” Photo: Greg Kessler

Guido Palau on Luella “The hair is glamorous, sexy, vampy. Inspired by Bianca Jagger, Patty Hanson—all those women that we want to be.” Photo: Greg Kessler

Guido Palau on Marc Jacobs “The hair is sexy and downtown, offsetting Marc’s beautiful clothes. It’s not grungy but very easy…sort of what the girls have naturally. We brushed it, slightly back-teasing the hair, and then used little bobby pins for that prom feel. It’s very girly, a bit rock ’n’ roll, and very Marc Jacobs.”
Dick Page on Marc Jacobs “The makeup is sort of bad-girl. A blue and a black cream liner mixed together all around the eye to the lashes. And then we follow that with a lip gloss.” Photo: Greg Kessler

Tom Pecheux on Marni “We’re doing a dewy face with a kind of fifties eyeliner. Nothing on the lips, just Chapstick, a very light eyebrow, and very rosy, dewy cheeks.”
Orlando Pita on Marni “The hair here is inspired by how the girls come to the fittings—they start to do a ponytail, then they loop it and don’t pull it through all the way. We are making it a little more exaggerated, and kind of messy. And that’s it. Consuelo wanted something that was elegant but still easy to do.” Photo: Greg Kessler

Dick Page on Michael Kors “Big surprise! Everyone’s tan—but it’s kind of a desert tan, so it’s dusty, not glossy. We have matte skin, with some highlights of gold, a pale vanilla beige around the eyes, gold cream going through the brows, black mascara, and a soft rose-beige on the lips that has some gloss. The whole thing is very rich.”
Orlando Pita on Michael Kors “At Michael Kors we’re doing textured buns—they’re a little bit weathered with a desert feeling, a little bit dry in texture, and then just knotted up in the back.” Photo: Greg Kessler
